She was born on November 1, 1941, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late David A. and Alice C. (nee MacDougall) Lane) and spent her life dedicated to her family, community, her love of history and studying the Word of God
Alice graduated from Bensalem High School in 1959 and married William A. McCloskey Sr in August 1959. After raising her children, she started her professional career as a Judicial Clerk for the Bucks County District Courts, and later a Secretary to the Captain and CID of the Bensalem Police Department. She returned to the courts and retired in the 90’s to care for her parents.
A passionate historian and founding member of the Bensalem Historical Society, Alice served in various roles, including President and Corresponding Secretary. She also co-authored three books on Bensalem Township’s history and in recognition of her contributions, she was honored with the Bensalem Pride Award in 2001 by Mayor DiGirolamo. Alice also traveled with the Van Zandt Society with her dear friends all over the United States and returned home with a cookbook from every state as gifts. She particularly enjoyed Canada, London, Russia and Ukraine with stories to share with her children and grandchildren.
Alice was an active member of the Liberty Evangelical Free Church, where she led the Women’s Bible Study, “Woman on the Move” and was always quick to lend her support and volunteer for any need within the church community.
