Betty Hood

September 4, 1929 — October 20, 2023

Betty (Smith) Hood, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2023, at the age of 94. Born in Shamokin, PA to the late Harold and Lydia (Kramer) Smith and was a resident of Bensalem for over 60 years.


Betty obtained her Associate's Degree and pursued a fulfilling career as a nurse in the healthcare industry. She dedicated her life to caring for others, leaving a lasting impact on those she served.


Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Palmer R. Hood. Devoted to her family, Betty leaves behind her children: Richard H. Hood (Linda), Bill Hood, Sr (Sue) and Diane Hood-Van Duyne (Jeff). She was a cherished grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Kim (Chuck), Bill, Jr (Teriann), Mike, Brian (Meg), Chrissy (Chet), Matt (Kim), and Jason. Betty's joy expanded further, with twelve great-grandchildren who brought immense happiness to her life. Betty was also preceded in death by her sister, Grace Cope.


Betty's love for her family knew no bounds. They were the light of her life, and she treasured the moments they spent together. She enjoyed family gatherings, where laughter and love filled the air. Alongside her sweetheart, Palmer, Betty also experienced the joy of traveling and the wonder of nature, especially admiring the deer that frequented her backyard.


A devoted member of the Eddington Presbyterian Church, Betty found solace and strength in her faith. She was an active participant in various church activities, generously sharing her time and talents. Betty's caring nature extended beyond her immediate family, as she selflessly served her church community.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing, Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 10 to 11 AM at the Eddington Presbyterian Church, 3650 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020, followed by her service at 11 AM. Interment Rosedale Memorial Park.
