Carole Mae Mitchell

August 10, 1939 — April 25, 2023

Carole Mae Mitchell (née Lawson) of Bensalem, PA was born on August 10, 1939 at her family home in Philadelphia to William and Mary Lawson (née Carey). The eldest daughter of nine, Carole spent much of her childhood and teenage years caring for her siblings while her father worked long hours as a HVAC tech and her mother as a nurse. Carole was a natural-born nurturer and was affectionately known as “Gram” to everyone who knew her-regardless of relation. It seemed as if there was no career better suited for Carole than that of a nurse and so she dedicated 44 years of her life as an orthopedic scrub nurse at Delaware Valley Hospital (Now Jefferson) in Langhorne, PA.

Carole was a talented artist who especially enjoyed painting with water colors.

She loved Tastykakes, being outdoors, and watching Philadelphia sports. Family meant everything to her and she somehow found a way to be everywhere all at once. She never missed a celebration, accomplishment, or holiday and on days that she couldn’t be with her family, she could be found reminiscing through her thousands of photos which she cherished so deeply.

Carole was the absolute best mother to William (Valarie), Linda (Patrick), James (Linda), and Michael as well as loving and devoted grandmother to 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Carole departed this world on Tuesday, April 25th exactly how we all hope to someday-peaceful in her warm bed and surrounded by love. She now dances in heaven with the love of her life, James F. Mitchell Sr. and loving grandson, James O. Ogden along with her mother, father, four brothers, and two sisters.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Viewing at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, Pa 19020 on Monday May 1st, from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM followed by her Service at 12:00 PM.
