Christine Marie (Hogan) Conaway, a 55 year resident of Penndel, passed away suddenly Friday, May 1, 2015 at her residence. She was 64 years old. She was the devoted daughter of the late Frances Volk Hogan and is survived by her father Rev. Joseph Hogan to whom she was the devoted primary caretaker since his retirement in 2002. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Frederick M. Conaway. Chris was born in Philadelphia and lived across the street from Connie Mack Stadium until 1960 when her parents moved to Penndel. She graduated from Bishop Conwell in 1968 and Temple University in 1972 with a dual degree in early childhood and elementary education. In 1973 she became the director of St. Jude Day school in Penndel where she had one of the only day care centers in the area at that time. She directed St. Jude’s for 20 years while raising her three sons. She was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Parish for all her 55 years in Penndel and with her husband Fred, she facilitated Pre-Cana days and Baptismal classes. She also taught CCD, was an aide at the school, served on the first home and school board, and she was a member of the parish centennial committee in 2008. She was an administrative assistant at OLG from 1994 until the time of her passing. She was the beloved mother of Patrick (Gail) Conaway of Holland, Kevin (Kate) Conaway of Langhorne and Ryan (Ashley) Conaway of Langhorne. She loved and adored her 7 grandchildren: Erin, Molly, Asher, Kevin, Siobhan, Clare and Seamus. Her family was the light of her life. She is also survived by her 4 sisters: Francine Boyle (James), Maureen Krueger (George), Joanne McGarrity (Joseph), Patrice Harms (Peter) and 2 brothers Paul and Joseph Hogan, Jr (Andrea). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was blessed to have wonderful friends and neighbors. She also loved her St. Monica friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday Eve from 7 to 9 PM at Our Lady of Grace Church, 225 Bellevue Ave., Penndel, PA 19047 and again Thursday, from 10 to 11 AM, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Rite of Committal will be in Resurrection Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her mother and husband.
