It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward L. Copechal Jr, who left us on Wednesday March 25, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on November 30, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Gertude (Hartley) and Edward LeRoy Copechal, Sr. Ed spent the majority of his life in Croydon, where he built a warm and welcoming home on Fourth Avenue.
Ed was a dedicated and hardworking man who devoted 35 years of his life to SEPTA in the maintenance department. He also enjoyed working alongside his loving wife, Lois, for 35 years at Beck's Ice House. He proudly served in United States Navy.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Ed had a deep commitment to his community. He proudly served as a firefighter with the Croydon Fire Station No. 11, where he was a lifelong member and past trustee. His contributions to public safety extended to his role as a Bristol Township Fire Police Officer. Ed was also a proud Freemason and an active member of the Bristol Elks Lodge 970, where he forged lasting friendships. Outside of work, Ed found joy in the simple pleasures—playing pool, savoring an ice-cold Busch Light, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Ed's legacy will continue through his loving family, including his devoted wife of 35 years, Lois (Beck) Copechal. He will also be deeply missed by his children, Anne Marie Renn (John) and Paul Batcho (Katie); His four cherished grandchildren, Christian, Lori, Tiffany, and Stevi. siblings Lynneanne and Joanne; Cousin Mark Weber. He will be especially remembered as the godfather of Andrew Fiocco, whom he held close to his heart. Ed was also preceded in death by his son, Edward L. Copechal, III and his grandson, Scott Batcho.
