Edward George Dobosh

April 15, 1936 — April 11, 2024

Edward "George” Dobosh, dedicated educator and faithful friend, died April 11, 2024. George was born in Nesquehoning PA on April 15h, 1936, the son of Margaret Dobosh and Frank Gigliotti. He graduated from Muhlenberg College in 1959, subsequently receiving a masters degree in education from Temple University. George went on to do additional postgraduate work at Boston, Carnegie-Mellon and Oxford Universities. In the early 1960's George worked in North Africa for the U.S. State Department. He travelled extensively in Europe during that time. In 1964 he began a 29-year career teaching social studies at Great Valley High School in Malvern PA. George had a passion for helping students learn the practical skills needed for life. He helped college-bound students prepare for the rigors of college and professional life, while helping others discern alternative paths in the trades and making introductions to secure apprenticeships. A lover of everything Victorian, George spent his free time engaging in historic restoration, antiquing, gardening, and cooking food for friends laden with the influences of his Hungarian ancestry. George was a long-time resident of West Chester, PA and Cape May, NJ. After retiring, George lived in Philadelphia and was an active member of Saint Luke and the Epiphany Episcopal Church. Often described as a character, somewhat eccentric, sometimes exasperating, and always loveable, George will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched.

A funeral service and interment will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, May 11 at St Luke and The Epiphany Episcopal, 330 S. 13th Street, Philadelphia, Pa, 19107. All are welcome.
