It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eleanor Veronica (Keenan) Del Piano, 94, a resident of Bensalem, PA since 1956. Eleanor was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 18, 1930 to the late Eleanor V. (Byrnes) and Leo Francis Keenan. She passed away peacefully at her home on January 9, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas J. Del Piano, whom she married on June 5, 1948 at the age of 17. Eleanor and Nicholas lived a life of love and unwavering companionship for 64 years until his passing in 2012. Together, they raised 5 daughters and opened their home to multiple foster children.
Eleanor was not only dedicated to her family, but was also proud to have served her community as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 20 years, deservedly receiving the Emilia C. Hayman Award for "Ideal Nurse." She was the ultimate caregiver, endlessly putting others' needs above her own. Eleanor's door was always open to family and friends, and she made time for everyone.
Eleanor's home was the meeting spot where family gathered for memorable backyard parties and holidays. Whether dancing to the mummers or watching her grandchildren dance to the Grease soundtrack, Eleanor took pleasure in every moment. She lived life to the fullest. Some of her favorite memories were her trips to Disney World and Las Vegas, as well as, sitting on the beach by the water. She enjoyed watching her "soaps" and going out to eat. Later in life, Eleanor spent her time listening to audio books and online shopping. She never missed sending a birthday card, Christmas gift, or celebrating a momentous occasion. Her thoughtfulness will never be forgotten. Eleanor also adored her time with her daughter's watching plays
For all who had the pleasure to know Eleanor, she will live on in their hearts, having instilled kindness, compassion, and unconditional love through great example.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Nicholas J. Del Piano; her loving daughter, Lea Matlock; her granddaughter, Samantha Joy Foxhill; her son, Bruce Sweeney; and her siblings: Theresa Cavelli, Leo Keenan, Bonnie Scott and her son-in law Ron Snyder.
