It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Francis Kirk McClarren, who left us on January 5, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Lillian (Kirk) and Francis McClarren, he was a resident of Bensalem for the past 47 years.
Frank was a graduate of North Catholic High School, Class of 1956, and later attended Drexel University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1962. He dedicated over three decades of his career as a Mechanical Engineer for Philadelphia Electric (PECO) and proudly retired from the company before beginning a second career as an engineering and facilities project manager for US Facilities, Inc. in his last 13 professional working years.
Frank was not only known for his professional accomplishments but also for his vibrant personality and passions. A proud 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 4215, he cherished his community ties. He was a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, often seen cheering for his teams with unwavering enthusiasm. In his spare time, he enjoyed diving into crossword puzzles, capturing the beauty of family life through photography, and taking on household projects that brought him joy.
Traveling was another of Frank's great loves. He created cherished memories on annual family trips to Ocean City, MD, visits to the Caribbean Islands, and special pilgrimages to Clearwater, FL, for Phillies spring training. Frank also traveled to Europe a number of times with his extended family, with a highlight being a trip to Ireland where he celebrated his proud Irish/Scottish heritage. While his family has so many happy memories of trips together, one they truly cherish is the image of Frank sitting in a pub in Ireland, surrounded by his family, smiling and drinking his favorite beverage – a Guiness beer!
Frank is survived by the love of his life, his beloved wife of 59 years, Nora M. (Gallagher) McClarren; his three children, Michelle McClarren, Susan McClarren, and Kirk McClarren (Jennifer); his son-in-law, Edward J. Curry, III; his brother, Eugene McClarren (Carol); and his 9 cherished grandchildren, Hannah Lancieri, Allison Bezick-Lancieri (Anita), Jessica Scipione, Nicholas Scipione, Johnny Scipione, Megan Curry, Madison Curry, Colin McClarren and Marissa McClarren. Frank was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl “Cheri” Curry and his sister, Mary Jane Brownsey. Frank’s family is comforted by the thought that his precious daughter, Cheri, has welcomed him into heaven with open arms and that his broken heart over her loss is now finally healed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Frank’s viewing on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 1731 Hulmeville Rd., Bensalem, PA 19020, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Rite of Committal will be at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Wounded Warrior Foundation (See donation link at the bottom of the page). www.tomlinsonfh.com
