Gary Alan Pope

March 22, 1959 — November 15, 2024

Gary Alan Pope died at home on November 15, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends throughout his illness, hospital, and hospice.

Gary was born in Morristown, NJ. He was adopted by Earl and Eloise Pope (the greatest parents anyone could have) and was raised in Hulmeville, Pa. Gary was married and had a daughter, Jennifer in 1976. He joined the Army and was trained in Fort Campbell, Ky. where he served with the 101st Airborne. He was promoted quickly and was stationed in Thailand, served in the Secret Service, and was trained in the Nuclear and Chemical Warfare division. Gary eventually transferred to Fort Dix where he was honorably discharged in 1981.

Gary met and married Dawn Thullen in 1985 till the present. He worked for Orkin for seven years and then was employed with Lowe’s in Warrington for 19 years. Gary and Dawn have three children Lester, Kati, and Kelly. They bought a house in Trevose, Pa. Where she still resides.

Gary was larger than life. A big personality, great sense of humor, indelicate vocabulary, temper on occasion, and a deep love of his family. His second loves were his insatiable love of baseball and his pit bull, Frodo.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Eloise Pope and daughter Jenn.

Survived by his loving wife of 39 years Dawn Pope as well as his brother of Greg Pope (Lisa). Jenn’s sons Zachary and Robert. Gary and Dawn’s children are Lester Earl Pope III (Melissa) and their children Jaxon and Gloriana. Kati Lynch (Matt) and his children Emmalyn and Jocelyn and their youngest daughter Kelly (Kevin). Gary’s best friend Brian Benish, who is related by love. Also, preceded in death is our beloved son, Angel and our sweet baby grandson, Holden Alexander.

His birth mother, Joyce Hathaway, brothers Mark Hathaway (Cindy), Wayne Hathaway (Heidi), and sister Wanda Waldron (Wayne), and a zillion nieces and nephews.
