It is with heavy hearts that family and friends of George W. McClellan announce his passing on October 2, 2024, at the age of 75. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 6, 1949 to the late William and Mary McClellan, George led a remarkable life as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
A highly accomplished Software Engineer with a Master's Degree, George devoted his career to the field of engineering, working most recently for InterDigital, Inc. His contributions were significant, holding several patents that showcased his innovative thinking. Beyond his professional successes, George was a proud Navy veteran, achieving the Commissioned Officer rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and serving from May 16, 1971, to May 15, 1975. He was stationed on the U.S.S Newport News, CA-148.
In his personal life, George was a member of the B and R Family Fitness Club and the Bucks County Road Runners, where he indulged in his passion for fitness. He was an avid athlete, participating in triathlons and even completing an Iron Man Triathlon in Louisville, Kentucky on August 28, 2011. His dedication to physical fitness was just one aspect of his vibrant and active lifestyle.
George will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Shirley, son George and daughter-in-law Melissa, son Steven, daughter Mary Beth and son-in-law Matthew, as well as his grandchildren, Chase, Dylan, Sarah, Julia, and Jude, siblings Margaret Gatti (John), and William McClellan (Robin). His warm presence and unwavering support will also be remembered by his extended family and friends. George was preceded in death by his son, David McClellan.
The funeral services to honor George's life were held on October 5, 2024. A private viewing took place at Tomlinson Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Service. The Graveside Service concluded at Resurrection Cemetery on the same day.
George's legacy of resilience, dedication, and love will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he shared so generously in his lifetime.
