Geraldine M. Downs

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Geraldine M. (Mohr) Downs, who left us peacefully on Friday November 28, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on April 26, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Izola (Blair) and Willaim Mohr and was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia.

Geraldine was a graduate of North East High School, Class of 1962. She dedicated her life to her work as a custodian, serving both Bethany Baptist Church in Philadelphia and later St Timothy's Lutheran Church in Fox Chase. Her strong work ethic and gentle spirit touched the lives of many. Faith was a cornerstone of her life; she not only participated as a member of Bethany Baptist Church but also served as a trustee, displaying her commitment to her community and beliefs. 

In her free time, Geraldine loved to play bingo, bowl, bake, and can her home-cooked delights. Most importantly, she truly cherished the moments spent with her family—especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—creating lasting memories that will continue to warm their hearts. 

Geraldine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Wayne C. Downs. She is survived by her loving daughters, Geraldine Messatzzia (George) and Patricia Davis. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; Her dear sister, Carole Applegate; her cherished nephew, Daniel Hagopian, along with niece Carrie Applegate. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Geraldine was also preceded in death by her siblings, Mildred Chapman and Patricia Williams. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation Thursday December 4, 2025 from 2 to 3 PM at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020, followed by her service at 3 PM.
