Harry W. Hummel

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Harry William Hummel, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Harry was born on December 11, 1945, to the late Robert W. and Margaret (nee Morgan) Hummel, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and he peacefully departed this life on February 8, 2026, at the age of 80.

Harry's formative years in Philadelphia shaped his passionate love for the city, especially its sports teams. A dedicated fan of all Philly sports, he found joy in cheering for his teams, supporting them through both victories and losses. His love of life was complemented by his wonderful knack for enjoying the simple pleasures; he particularly delighted in working on his tan, especially during family vacations to Virginia Beach.

Harry served his country honorably in the Navy, enlisting on September 14, 1966, and being discharged as a Seaman (SN E-3) on August 23, 1968. He worked as a HVAC mechanic for the University of Pennsylvania for 42 years, where he contributed his skills to the maintenance department with pride. He was a hardworking man, devoted both to his profession and to his family. Harry's warm spirit shone brightly in the cherished moments spent driving with his son, Kevin, and bonding over shared experiences.

Harry is survived by his loving daughter, Kimberly Cossaboon (Kevin), his brother, Robert Hummel (Cassie). He was a proud grandfather to Michael Ramsher and Tyler Cossaboon, and he had the joy of being a great-grandfather to Michael Ramsher and Levi Ramsher. His family was his greatest treasure, and he leaves behind countless memories that will be deeply cherished. Harry was preceded in death by his son, Kevin in January of 2026.

In addition to his love for family, Harry was also blessed with the companionship of cats, which brought him comfort and joy throughout his life.

Harry William Hummel will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
