Helen M. Nelson

Helen M. (Toner) Nelson of Philadelphia passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 15, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was 81 years old. Helen was the beloved wife of 60 years to Martin F. Nelson; Loving mother to Maryellen Ludascher, Martin J. Nelson (Cheryl), Katie Layman (Garry), Stephen Nelson (Joan) and Patricia Nelson, John Savoca. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer Brady (Michael), Shannon Dogmanits (Josh), Sean Ludascher, Katelyn Ludascher, Nicole Talarico (Joe), Michael Nelson (Devin), Christopher Nelson (Allie), Alexandra Layman, Taylor Layman and Elizabeth Savoca. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Paige Brady, Michael Brady, Luca Talarico, Eloise Nelson and Fiona Rose Dogmanits. Helen was preceded in death by her siblings John Toner and Robert Toner Helen was a devoted parishioner of St. Christopher’s Parish in Somerton. She loved caring for her grandchildren and sewing projects for her family. She was also very active in participating in St. Christopher's Senior Club Activities. She was a proud graduate of J.W. Hallahan High School in Philadelphia, where she made lifelong friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St. Christopher’s Church, 13301 Proctor Rd., Philadelphia PA 19116, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Rite of Committal Resurrection Cemetery.
