Captain, Pastor Herbert W. Phillips. Sr of Bristol Twp. passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday August 19, 2021. He was 73 years old. Herb, born in Abington, PA to the late Herb and Isabella (Rice) Phillips and was a lifelong resident of Bristol, PA. Herb was a police officer for 29 years with the Bristol Twp. Police Department, retiring with the rank of Captain in 2000. He was a very active member of his community, serving with the Third District Volunteer Fire Company Station #14, where also served as a Captain and a life member. After retirement, Herb continued to serve his community as a Methodist Minister for many years, up until the time of his passing. He was the former pastor of Trevose United Methodist Church, an Associate Pastor at Christ United Methodist Church, and most recently the Pastor of Historical Lahaska United Methodist Church. Herb was a member of the choir and various bible studies throughout his spiritual calling. He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, his Mustang GT Convertible, and trips with his family to Lancaster, PA often stopping at Yoder's or the Shady Maple Smorgasbord and always made a point to stop at Lucky Leo’s when he visited Seaside, NJ with his family. Herb was also an avid animal lover, and will be deeply missed by his dog, Barkley. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 53, years Linda V. (Smith). Herb is also survived by his two sons, Herbert W., Jr. (Lynette) and Christopher Phillips (Lisa); his brothers Raymond and Karl Phillips (Kathy); Daughter/Sister-in-law Arlene Smith, Son/Nephew Harry (Michelle) Smith and his six grandchildren: Victoria, Jordan, Josh, Frankie, Mason and Madelyn. Herb was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel W. Phillips. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing, Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Christ United Methodist Church, 501 Wistar Rd., Fairless Hills, PA 19030 and again Thursday from 10 to 11 AM, followed by his Service at 11 am. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
