James Barrett Humphreys

James Barrett Humphreys, age 89 of Edgely, PA, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023. Born in Holmes, PA and was a longtime resident of Hulmeville and Edgely. Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran and served as Military Police with AFSWP (Armed Forces Special Weapons Project) Operation Hardtack and was stationed in the South Pacific. Jim graduated from Dobbins Voc/Tech High School in Philadelphia, graduated Bucks County Community College with an Associate Degree. He was also a graduate of LaSalle University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was a Master Plumber and a skilled welder. He was the owner/operator of the Penn Motel for many years. He was a member of the Bensalem Economic Development Commission and a licensed realtor. Jim was an original member of the Board of Directors for the Bucks County Visitors Bureau, President of the Hulmeville Zoning Board and on the Board of Directors of the Washington Crossing Foundation. He was Area Commander for the National Association of Atomic Veterans. Jim was a world traveler and visited six continents. He skipped Antarctica because it was too far and too cold. He conducted his business at the kitchen counter, red pen in hand. He faithfully read two newspapers per day…history buff…. loved Philly sports…. trash picker extraordinaire. His quick wit and one liners were infamous. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Helen Humphreys (Harrigle). Son of the late Milton and Margaret (Mohler) Humphreys, brother of the late John S. Humphreys (Ann Marie). Relatives and friends are invited to attend James’s viewing Sunday, July 2, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Tomlinson Funeral Home 2207 Briistol Pike, Bensalem, PA 18929 followed by a service at 7:00 pm. Interment will be held Monday, July 3, 2023, 9:00 am at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
