James Elmer Miller

April 10, 1947 — August 1, 2023

James Elmer Miller, of Croydon, passed away on August 1st. He was 76 years old. Jim retired from Boeing Helicopters in 2013 after 35 years of employment.

He was proud of his Scots-Irish heritage and as an avid reader, would read just about any book to learn more about the history of his ancestors.

Jim will always be remembered for his sense of humor and willingness to do anything for a laugh,

His greatest joy was just hanging out with his son and grandsons swapping stories about hunting and fishing or just anything pertaining to nature. As well as his daughters and granddaughters who learned an interest in birds and nature from him. Jim was a terrific storyteller and loved sharing them with the family. He was affectionately called “the ‘ole woodsman”. He thoroughly enjoyed any time that he could be around his family and was always available if someone needed help. Jim loved all dogs, but especially his black lab, Maggie.

His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Seeing their faces or just hearing their voices was the best medicine for him. Especially in the past few months.

Jim will be deeply missed by his wife of 48 years, Julia (nee Cooney), his son , James Elmer Miller Jr.,(Kelly), daughters Christine Miller (Bob), and Kathleen Roberts (Brian), his grandchildren: Julia Gheer (Kurt), Sean, Kerry and Owen Miller, Nathan and Amelia Wittman, Rylie and Macklin Roberts. And great-granddaughter, Kennedy Gheer. He is also survived by his nephew, Bill Miller.

Service and internment will be private.
