It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jane S. DeKorte, age 78, of Holland, Pennsylvania, who departed this world peacefully on February 15, 2026. Born on November 9, 1947, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Walter and Dorothy Mae (nee Thomas) Stigall, Jane lived a life rich with love, creativity, and passion for education.
Jane was not only the devoted wife to her beloved husband, David DeKorte, but also the proud mother to her son, David DeKorte (Candace), and daughter, Allison Winik (Leigh), and grandmother to Quinn. Jane will be deeply missed by her brother Joe Stigall (Jacqueline), as well as her sister Dorothy Putnam (Arthur). Her impact on her family and friends will remain a treasured part of their lives. Jane was preceded in death by her siblings, Walter Stigall (the late Ruth), and Nancy Crawford (the late J.C.).
With a Bachelor's Degree in hand, Jane dedicated herself to the noble profession of teaching, imparting knowledge and inspiration to countless students at various schools throughout her career. In addition to teaching, Jane was an active member of Alpha Omicron Pi and Beta Sigma Phi sororities, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and connections.
A true artisan at heart, Jane found joy in knitting, cross-stitching, crocheting, and sewing. She also contributed her talents to the Newtown Arts Company, leaving a lasting legacy of creativity and artistry in her community. Throughout 25 years she was the company’s costumer and served on the Board of Directors. Jane produced, directed, and performed in many shows over the years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jane’s visitation at the Ivyland Presbyterian Church, 51 Gough Avenue, Ivyland, Pa 18974 on March 28, 2026 from 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM followed by her memorial service at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jane’s name to Ivyland Presbyterian Church at the above address.
In this time of sorrow, we find comfort in the love Jane shared and the countless lives she touched. She will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
