Jean Roberts (nee Clashaus), 91, passed away on January 9, 2026. Born in Philadelphia in 1934, Jean grew up in Montgomery County and graduated from Abington High School. After marrying George F. Roberts, they moved to Bensalem where they raised five sons. Family was of utmost importance to her as she encouraged her children to do their best and live their lives with integrity and strength of conviction.
While her boys were young, Jean was active in the PTA and Cub Scouts, volunteering her time as a class mother and den leader. She then worked for the Bensalem School District as a secretary in the middle and high schools for over 20 years and served as the AFSCME shop steward.
Encouraging her children to pursue higher education, Jean took her own advice and started college in her fifties, working towards her associate degree at Bucks County Community College.
A voracious reader, it was not uncommon for Jean to come home weekly with a shopping bag full of books. No doubt that helped her master the New York Times crossword puzzles and Jeopardy. Whatever her interests she jumped in with both feet whether it be competing in a bowling league, participating in a sewing guild, or spending time with friends through games of mahjong, bingo, and pinochle and scouring flea markets. In her retirement she expanded upon her talents by becoming a Bronze Life Master in bridge and competing in area tournaments.
Preceding her in death were her father, August Julius Clashaus; mother, Johanna Clashaus; stepmother Hermina Clashaus Tettemer; brother, August Charles Clashaus; husband of 50 years, George F. Roberts; and son Tim.
Jean will be missed by sons George (Maryanne) of Holland, PA; Jeff (Kathy) of Dubuque, IA; Sean (Donna) of Dallas, TX; and Troy (Patricia) of Feasterville, PA; daughter-in-law Mila of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren Christine, Nickolaus, Gabriel, Courtney, Kimberly, Samantha and Ryan; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Dee Beede and Donna Matthews for their many years of friendship and support for Jean.
To the woman who believed that “What is meant for you will never pass you by,” may Jean forever be nestled in God’s loving arms and enjoy eternal peace as it is truly meant for her.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Friday, January 16 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at St. Ephrem Church, 5400 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem followed by Mass at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made to the Bucks County Community College Foundation. www.tomlinsonfh.com
