Jimmy Lee Mills passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2025, surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Sophia, West Virginia, Jimmy grew up the son of a coal miner, living on the Mills family mountain in Soak Creek, West Virginia with his parents, Clayton and Mozetta Mills and his siblings, Jack, Margarette Anne, James and David, all deceased. In high school Jimmy was on the track, football and wrestling team where he won the title of West Virginia State Champion twice. After high school he moved to Pennsylvania to find work that was not in the coal mines. After working for Ford and a couple of other jobs, he started a career as a millwright at the Fairless Hills Division of United States Steel Plant.
He was introduced to the love of his life, Genevieve, by his future brother-in-law Elwood “Jack” Jackson, and they married in 1965. He then built his family a house in Bensalem PA where his father-in-law Joseph Wright gave them a piece of the family land. In 1975 their son C J (Clayton Joseph) was born. In Bensalem they enjoyed working on their mini farm where they gardened, canned fruits and vegetables, raised chickens, turkeys, pigs, and honeybees, and made 100s of gallons of his famous homemade wine from the fruit he and Genevieve grew. He was also famous for his legendary pig roast parties he would have in the backyard. When not at home Jimmy enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing, boating, camping and attending his son’s swim meets. Jimmy was also a very active member of the Bensalem United Methodist Church.
In 1999, they sold the house to their son and moved to Port St. Lucie Florida where they lived for the next 24 years. Not surprisingly, Jimmy and Genevieve spent their days gardening and fishing and enjoying retirement with friends and family, many from First United Methodist Church of PSL, where they were also very active members. In 2022 they sold their home in Florida to move back to Bensalem to be closer to their son, C J, daughter in law Chrissy, and grandchildren, Hailey, Jack, Sean and Brooke who are living in the house he helped build 50 years ago. Jimmy and Genevieve built a beautiful home next door on the family land and have spent the past two years enjoying time with their family. He especially loved attending shows to watch his son C J’s different musical projects and Celtic productions where his son, daughter in law and granddaughters performed.
Jimmy always said, whenever I go, don’t you dare cry for me, know that I had a great run and smile at the amazing life I got to live, and then throw a really big party and celebrate. Because of this request, the family will take some time to process and grieve, and on Saturday, September 27th there will be a Celebration of Life at Bensalem United Methodist Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jimmy's visitation at the Bensalem United Methodist Church, 4300 Hulmeville Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020 on Saturday September 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM followed by his service at 12:00 PM. His interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Bensalem United Methodist Church (4300 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem PA 19020) or to The OTN Ryan Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund (Bensalem School District, 3000 Donallen Drive, Bensalem PA 19020)
