Joan A. Rice

Joan Rice died on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at St Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late John and Willetta Weckerly (Wolfe). Joan was a resident of Croydon for over 64 years and was mainly a homemaker. As her children got older, she held jobs at Two Guys, Sears and lastly Burlington Coat Factory. Joan was preceded in death by her only true love ( as she let everyone know) Daniel Rice and they were married for 65 years. She will be deeply missed by her loving children: Donna McVey, Linda Young, Darlene Dickinson (Bruce), Daniel Rice (Catherine), Karen Rice, Kevin Rice (Bernadette), and Cheryl Rice. Joan had 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren who loved her as much as her own children. Joan also had 3 sisters Grace Ward and Alice Patton who preceded her in death and Ellen Fiot . She will be missed by all since she was the glue that kept it all together. She was witty and had plenty of sass that we all experienced and enjoyed along with being our most treasured confidant who was always there to save us from anything. She was to us not only a mother or grandmother she was our friend who we could come to with anything. She will be missed but forever loved by us all.
