John J. Maher

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John J. Maher, III, who left us on Wednesday January 1, 2025, at the age of 61. Born in Bristol, PA to the late Loretta (Smith) and John J. Maher, Jr and was a lifelong resident of Bensalem.

John lived a life filled with passion and love for his family. He was an avid car enthusiast, known particularly for his pride in his 1965 El Camino. In his youth, he enjoyed practicing karate and continued to embrace physical activities throughout his life. John had a profound love for the great outdoors, cherishing camping trips where he created lasting memories with his family. His fondness for animals, especially the dogs he welcomed into his home over the years, highlighted his nurturing spirit and love for life. John worked as a warehouse worker at Roslyn Supply for many years.

He is survived by his loving spouse of 38 years, Sharon D. (Tomes) Maher. John is also survived by his children, Kyle and Kaitlyn Maher; and his siblings, Margaret Darmohray (Walter), Jacqueline Rooney, Patrick Maher (Diann), Susan Daly (Tom), and Kelly Barreca (Salvatore). He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Edith Tomes (The late Edward), brother-in-law, Edward Tomes (Christine), and sisters-in-law, Sandra Waldron (Thomas) and Virginia Maher and many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. John was also preceded in death by his brother, James Maher.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 6 to 7 PM at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020, followed by his service at 7 PM. Interment will be private.
