John Frederick Petri

John Frederick Petri , a faithful servant of Christ, passed peacefully at the age of 91, on May 29, 2023, joining his wife and lifelong partner, Charlotte Greisiger Petri. This gentle soul touched many people throughout his colorful life. Born in Philadelphia, PA on June 27, 1931, to Friederich Petri and Mathilde Johanna Kulper. John graduated from Westtown School in Westtown, PA, Penn State University in 1957 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and received an Electrical Engineering degree from John Hopkins. His career was marked with many interesting adventures providing many fascinating stories. Whether through his work as a Christian mentor, or in his daily interactions, he demonstrated patience, wisdom, and an appreciation for others with never a cross word or an unkind thought.

John will be missed by many family members including his children: Kent B. Petri (Jenny) , Wilmington, NC, Scott A. Petri (Ellen), New Hope, PA and Robin L. Grell, Newtown, PA, his 5 grandchildren, Jordan Connelly( Pearce), Nicholas Petri (Shelley), Drew A. Petri, Shawn Grell, Connor Grell and his 5 great grandchildren, Parker L. Petri, Hadley J. Connelly, Charles A. Connelly, Bailey C. Petri, and Carter L Petri along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and family members.

It's tough to summarize a life so rich with love for everyone, even those he had just met. Dad developed life-long friendships that started as casual connections. We will miss you Dad (Opa) but remain thankful for those life lessons you taught us so well with your words and your gestures of love and kindness.

Services and internment will be scheduled at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Westtown Fund, 975 Westtown Road, West Chester, PA 19382 in lieu of flowers.
