It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John “Buddy” L. Rigby on Monday, December 2, 2024 at the age of 66 years. Born in Bristol, PA to the late Reba (Tinsman) and Harvey Gilson Rigby, Jr, John was a resident of Bensalem for the past 35 years.
For over 35 years, John worked as a cartographer/schedules support specialist for SEPTA, where he dedicated his life to improving the transportation experiences of countless individuals. His love of art, planning, and local history fueled his passion for mapmaking.
John was known for his generous spirit and kindness, which made a lasting impact on those around him. He loved animals and took on the care of the neighborhood feral cats, and wild critters.
Outside of work, John relished the simple joys of life. He loved boating on the Delaware, sitting by his firepit, and taking leisurely walks through local community parks, often soaking in the beauty of nature. As an alumnus of Penn State, John was a lifelong fan of Penn State Football. He was also famous for his creative yearly Christmas cards, a tradition that brought joy to family and friends each holiday season.
John leaves behind his loving daughter, Marisa Rigby, son-in-law Ray Bechtelheimer, and first grandchild Rhiannon on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra McCauley, and other loving family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his brother, Harvey “Gil” Rigby, III.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 10 to 11 AM at the Cornwells United Methodist Church, 2284 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020, followed by his service at 11 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory can be made to the Penn Abramson Cancer Center. www.tomlinsonfh.com
