Joseph L. Checchia, a beloved father, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on February 8, 2024, in his hometown of Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Joseph was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and after serving worked for Union Local 542, Operating Engineers.
Joseph, known affectionately as Jody, was a talented musician who captured the hearts of countless fans through his soulful melodies and timeless lyrics. With his soothing voice and expert guitar skills, he made a lasting impact in the music industry. Joe's love for traditional country music led him to record in the iconic studios of Nashville, where his heartfelt performances touched the hearts of many.
In addition to his successful music career, Joe also held the esteemed position of International Traditional Country Music Fan Club President. Through this role, he fostered a vibrant community of music enthusiasts who shared his deep appreciation for the rich heritage of traditional country music. His advocacy and dedication to the genre will be dearly missed.
Joe's warm and joyful spirit extended beyond his musical endeavors. Those who were fortunate enough to know him personally will remember his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering support for those around him. Despite his numerous accomplishments in the entertainment industry, Joe remained humble and always made time for his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Tina Checchia, his dear friends, Bonnie Nase and Paul Deal, siblings John Miller (Maryann), Wayne Miller (Gail), Harvey Miller (The late Marge), Dale Miller (Debbie), Sister-in-law Bridget Checchia; His nephews, Joseph and Anthony Checchia as well as many other loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many other loving family and friends. Joseph was proceeded in death by his siblings Ronald Checchia, Arlene Checchia, Marna Kinney, Sandra Martin, and Ronnie Miller.
Funeral services for Joseph L. Checchia will be held on February 13, 2024, at Tomlinson Funeral Home in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. The public viewing will take place at 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
Throughout his life, Joseph L. Checchia composed heartfelt melodies that resonated with the souls of many.
