Joseph Donald Bound, Sr.
“Murph”
July 21, 1948 – June 1, 2026
Joseph Donald Bound passed away on June 1, 2026, surrounded by his family and overwhelming love. He was 77 years young. Joseph grew up on Brown Avenue in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. He was one of five children born to Sophie (née Sawicki) and F. Joseph Bound. Joe attended St. Charles Elementary and was a graduate of Bensalem High School, as well as Bucks County Technical School. He spent countless hours with his friends racing cars down I-95 and working on muscle cars in his side yard.
At 17 years old, Joe met Sharon Batula, they married at 18 years old and started a family of their own. They raised three young children on Ford Avenue in Hulmeville, teaching their kids the importance of work ethic and commitment while actively volunteering to coach his sons' Little League baseball teams. As their family grew, many weekends were spent at their home with extended family having BBQs, swim parties, and playing baseball in the field behind the house, always kept mowed by Joe for his kids. The house was always full of aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends, and their loving chatter.
Joe was an entrepreneur at heart. In 1967, he purchased a gas station in Croydon — Atlantic Richfield, on Bristol Pike — while also continuing to work at the family-owned store, Bound Beverages. In 1977, he continued his passion for business and bought Bound Beverages, becoming the proud owner of the business he built and nurtured for over 50 years. More than an entrepreneur, he was a cornerstone of his community — generous with his time, his resources, and his personality. A true philanthropist at heart, Joe donated to many causes and supported countless local organizations, always believing that a community rises when its people look out for one another. He took care of many strangers, friends, and family alike.
Outside of work, Joe's passions took him to the water and the fairways. He loved boating and fishing, and found great peace in Brigantine, NJ, and Jupiter, FL. He also enjoyed a round of golf, finding more joy in the company on the course than in the game itself. Joe was a proud member of Teamsters Local #830 and the Elks Lodge #2428 in Brigantine, where he forged deep and lasting friendships over many years.
Joe lived an extraordinarily full life, having lots of laughs and making unforgettable memories along the way with family as well as lifelong friends. Those who knew Joe will remember his playful laugh, his talent for a well-timed nickname, and his irresistible knack for a playful prank or joke. He had a gift for making people feel seen and welcome, and his presence filled every room. His humor was matched only by his dedication and work ethic.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 10 years, Georgette "Barbara" (née McCain) Bound; his brother, Donald "Donny" Bound; and his sister, Karen Bound (née Tranausky).
Joe is survived by his children and their families: Christine Bound; Joseph Bound Jr. and his wife Kathleen, and their children Matthew, Anna, and Derek; Michael Bound and his children Miya, Jonah, and Lily; and his stepdaughter Andrea Siegfried and her husband Anthony, and their children Allison and Anthony. He is also survived by his sisters Dori Brenenborg and Darlene "Pixie" Woodward, as well as his dear friend and protégé Andy Cimochowski (Bobbi), and countless extended family members and friends whose lives he touched in immeasurable ways.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 9 AM to 12 PM at Our Lady of Grace Church, 225 Bellevue Avenue, Penndel, PA 19047, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 12 PM. Rite of Committal will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
We invite everyone whose lives were touched by Joe to join us as we remember his laughter, his generosity, and the beautiful legacy he leaves behind. He will truly be missed but never forgotten. www.tomlinsonfh.com
