Julia A. Ciaudelli

Julia A. Ciaudelli Julia A (Mignone) Ciaudelli, 94, of Andalusia, passed away peacefully from a long illness on July 27, 2021. Born on February 21, 1927 in Philadelphia she was the daughter of Felice G. Mignone (deceased) and Silvia M. (Capozzi) Mignone (deceased). In 1943 Julie met her husband, Marty Ciaudelli. They would marry in 1947 and begin a family. They moved to Andalusia, Pa. in 1955 where she would live for the rest of her life. Julie was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo and served as a Lector for many years. Julie graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School in 1944. At Hallahan, Julie, excelled at chemistry and language, fluent in Italian and French. She also was a member of the glee club and volunteered at the Red Cross. Upon graduation Julie worked at the Franklin Institute as part of their WWII effort. This was the beginning of her career as a government employee culminating with her retirement from the Defense Logistics Agency in 1994. Julie’s favorite position was as executive secretary for Capt. Roland Bosse MD USN who was in charge of the medical experiments for the Mercury and Gemini space projects on the air side at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. She met and worked closely with all of the original astronauts. Her favorite was John Glenn. She also worked for the Draft Board in Bristol, Pa. in the mid1960s but left when she had a “crisis of conscience” sending the sons of neighbors to serve during the Vietnam War. Julie loved music. Though she had no formal training she was an accomplished pianist. She loved opera and Big Band from the 40s. Sunday mornings were filled with opera. She would accompany the recordings on piano or whistle along with the music. Julie was preceded in death by her husband Martin B. Ciaudelli and her daughter Felicia M. Ciaudelli, her sisters Julia and Adele Mignone (who died as children) her brother Thomas F. Mignone and her sister Adele J. Yoho. She is survived by her sons Frank Ciaudelli (Susan), Marty Ciaudelli and Joe Ciaudelli, grandson Joseph G. Ciaudelli, granddaughter Julia E. Ciaudelli, grandson Raymond Clarke (Jana), great grandson Jonathan and great granddaughter Em. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the ICU staff at Jefferson Hospital Torresdale and Riverview Home Philadelphia. Visitation will be Sunday August 1st from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Tomlinson Funeral Home 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, Pa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday August 2nd 10am at Saint Charles Borromeo Church 1731 Hulmeville Rd. Bensalem, Pa Internment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 3301 W. Cheltenham Ave, Cheltenham, Pa.
