It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kyle David Lester, a beloved husband, brother, and friend. Kyle was born on October 18, 1963, in Bristol, PA, to the late Robert Lester and Patricia Benhardt, and spent his life bringing joy and laughter to those around him. He departed this world peacefully on January 2, 2025, surrounded by his cherished family.
Kyle loyally served at Kinder Morgan, as a locomotive operator in the steelworker’s union, where his work ethic and camaraderie endeared him to his colleagues. He took immense pride in his role in the manufacturing industry, often reminiscing about the friendships and memories made over the years.
Kyle's passions extended far beyond his work. He was an ardent supporter of Philadelphia sports teams, with a special place in his heart for the Eagles, Phillies, and most of all, the Flyers. His enthusiasm for sports was only rivaled by his love for animals, especially cats, whom he adored and cared for deeply.
In his free time, Kyle enjoyed watching Nascar races, hockey and tennis, and indulging in woodworking, where he found peace in crafting beautiful pieces with his own hands. His creativity and dedication were apparent in everything he did, from his professional life to his hobbies.
Kyle leaves behind his loving wife, Rena Sharp, who was his partner and confidante, and a devoted family that includes his brothers Robert, Kenneth, and Darren Lester; sisters Alane Younger and Synde Sheetz; and their respective spouses Bernadette, Zandra, Bill, and Chuck, along with numerous nieces and nephews, especially Derrick and Dustin, who will all carry his memory in their hearts.
In this time of profound loss, we take comfort in the outpouring of love and support from those who were touched by Kyle’s kindness and spirit. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the joy he brought to others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kyle’s name to the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, https://giving.jefferson.edu/giving-guide/buildings/jefferson-health-northeast-cancer-center.html, or donations can be made directly to the family.
