It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louise S. (Zeller) Ruggia, who left us peacefully on Monday October 6, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on July 2, 1932, in Zirndorf, Germany to the late Mia (Wagner) and Michael Zeller. She overcame the challenges of a war-torn childhood to immigrate to the United States, where she built a beautiful life in West Philadelphia and later in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.
Louise was a homemaker, but she was so much more than that. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel welcome and at home. Known for her delicious cooking, Louise took great joy in filling her dining table with love and warmth, bringing family and friends together around hearty meals and heartfelt conversations. Dancing was another of her passions; she found joy in every step, and her laughter would light up any room.
An avid knitter, she poured her love into every handcrafted blanket, gifting them to family and friends, each one woven with care and affection. After retiring, Louise and her husband, Dominick, cherished winter getaways at their home in Florida, soaking up the sunshine and making lasting memories. Louise also enjoyed her time at the local German Bavarian Club, where she served as vice-president of the Women's membership and formed lasting friendships.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her devoted husband of 73 years, Dominick L. Ruggia; Her loving children: Winfried Ruggia (Eun Hui), Susan O’Rourke (Joseph); Dominick Ruggia (Lisa) and Michael Ruggia (Linda); and her beloved grandchildren: Peace "Paul" Ruggia (Y-Van), Christopher O'Rourke, Louise O'Rourke-Kachenko (Alexander), Dominick Ruggia (Michelle), Nicholas Ruggia (Beth), Daniel Ruggia (Kelsey), and Michael Ruggia. Louise also adored her great-grandchildren: Henrik Barnhart, Theryn Kachenko, Baya Ruggia, and Dominick Ruggia. Louise was also preceded in death by her sister, Johanna “Honey” Brunke (Myron)
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation Thursday October 9, 2025 from 10 to 11 AM at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020, followed by her service at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
