Margaret “Peggy” J. Bruno (nee Hawthorne), of Abington, passed away on December 17th. She was 70 years old. Peggy worked as a Registered Nurse for 31 years, with over 20 years at Jefferson Abington Hospital. She loved to cook and go shopping, and she enjoyed a nice Cosmo. Peggy was also a generous supporter of many charities, including the Montgomery County SPCA, the American Heart Association, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and Guiding Light. She will be deeply missed by her husband, James M. Bruno, her children, James V. Bruno (Mark Zelesky) and Susanna Bruno (Michael Workman), her grandson, Scott Thompson, and her many friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her siblings, William Hawthorne and Frank Hawthorne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Visitation at the Episcopal Church of St. Luke and the Epiphany, 330 South 13th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107 on Saturday, December 23, 2023, from 9:00-10:00 AM in the Furness Chapel, followed by a celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 10:00 AM in the sanctuary. Please note that parking is not available at the church. Interment will be private.
Peggy was known to say, “don’t anyone ever give me flowers when I’m dead.
