Maria Sciarrino (Cottone)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Sciarrino, who departed this life peacefully on July 15, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on November 10, 1934, in Italy, to the late Giuseppe and Domenica (nee Russo) Cottone, Maria touched the hearts of many with her warmth, kindness, and infectious love of life.

Maria dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker. She was the loving mother of her daughter, Maria Covello (Chris), and son, Vincent Sciarrino (Karen), who cherished her guidance and support throughout their lives. She is also survived by her brother Giuseppe Cottone, her sister Mimma LoPresti, and a proud lineage that includes grandchildren Calogero, Antonio, Anna, Giuseppe, Maria, Anthony, Christopher, and Katherine, along with great-grandchildren Amaya, Layla, Oliver, and Benjamin. Maria was preceded in death by her husband Antonio in 2009.

Throughout her life, Maria found immense joy in cooking, baking, and traveling, often sharing her delicious creations and cherished memories with family and friends. Her passion for bringing people together through food will always be remembered, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she loved.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a public viewing at Tomlinson Funeral Home on July 20, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A heartfelt Mass celebrating Maria's life will take place at St. Katherine of Siena Church on July 21, 2025, at 10:30 AM, followed by her interment at Lakeview Memorial Park. As we say our goodbyes to our beloved Maria, we honor her life, her love, and the indelible mark she has left on all of us. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
