It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marie Elizabeth Greway, age 76, who left us peacefully on September 12, 2026. Born on August 15, 1950, to the late Daniel and Agnes (nee Gradel) Alex in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Marie lived a life filled with love, creativity, and devotion to her family. Marie dedicated her career as a Title Insurance Administrator at Assurance Abstract, where her meticulous attention to detail and commitment earned her the admiration of her colleagues. She could always count on a fun-filled lunch break with ample laughter heard around the building with her daughter and close colleagues, Edith Hughes and Charlotte Libby.
Her vibrant spirit shone through her many passions, including Phillies games at the ballpark, word searches, coloring, dancing—especially at weddings—and the art of knitting and crocheting. Many days and nights the house could be found full of tents and forts throughout created with sheets, nearby furniture and other household items. Each night was spent savoring her bowl of chocolate ice cream and pretzels or cookies dunked in a glass of chocolate milk. She had a remarkable ability to weave warmth and joy into everything she touched, creating treasured memories for her family and friends.
Marie is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Michael Raymond Greway, her devoted children Daniel Greway, David Greway (Bess), and Michelle Greway. She took great joy in her role as a grandmother to Stella and Parker Greway. Marie is also survived by her sister, Joan Davis (Gregory), her brother Paul Alex (Sharleen), and her sister Jane Ivanoski (Tony), as well as her nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Marie’s viewing at St. Ephrem Church, 5400 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, Pa 19020 on Monday, September 21st from 10:00-11:00 AM followed by her Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Marie’s name to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, https://www.theaftd.org/.
Her family would like to share a special thanks to the nursing staff, activity team, and dedicated aides in Wellspring: especially, Tracy “Mama”, Beverly “Mar-Mar” and of course Vicky a.k.a “Coffee Lady.” Thanks to all of Juniper for their love and care. The Greway family would also like to share a special thanks to the staff at Vitality Hospice for all their attention and support.
Marie’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be fondly remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared so freely. May she find eternal peace and joy in the embrace of her loved ones who have gone before her.
