Moya Kaporch Dittmeier

Moya Kaporch Dittmeier, born August 10, 1959, in Bristol, Pennsylvania, passed away on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 12, 2026 in Watkinsville, Georgia. She was the beloved daughter of Charles and Mary Kaporch and grew up in Levittown, Pennsylvania, where she developed the love of learning, faith, and service that would guide her throughout her life.

Moya graduated from Immaculata University and began her career as a high school English teacher at Nazareth Academy High School in Philadelphia. A gifted teacher and scholar, she later earned a Master's degree in Rhetoric and the Teaching of Writing from Arcadia University. Her work in higher education soon expanded beyond the classroom when she joined Holy Family University in Philadelphia, where she served as lecturer in English and Special Assistant to the President. Moya later received her doctorate in Higher Education from Widener University and was appointed Vice President for Planning at Holy Family University.

In 2007, Moya married John M. Dittmeier, a gentleman of Virginia. Together they began a happy new chapter of life, first in Virginia and later in Silver Spring, Maryland. During the final third of her career, Moya served as Executive Director of the Conference for Mercy Higher Education, where she provided leadership and oversight for the mission and identity of sixteen Mercy colleges and universities across the United States. Through this work, she helped strengthen the values of service, compassion, and educational excellence at institutions dedicated to the Sisters of Mercy tradition.

Moya was deeply committed to her faith and parish life. She served as a Eucharistic minister and dedicated time to preparing couples for marriage through her parish's marriage ministry. Beyond her professional and parish commitments, Moya loved to travel. She and her beloved John especially cherished their trips to Ireland, returning there many times over the years they shared together.

She will be remembered for her intellect, warmth, generosity of spirit, and deep commitment to education, faith, and community. She is survived by her beloved husband, John, a sister, Sister Catherine Kaporch, IHM, a brother, Kevin Kaporch (Timothy Gualdoni), and John's family-brothers David (Jami) and Tony (Patricia), a nephew, nieces and grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
