Rachel Joseph

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Rachel Joseph (Kunjumol), beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who entered eternal rest on November 16, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born on October 31, 1940, in Thumpamon, Kerala, to the late V.K Philip and Mariamma Philip. In 1957, she married the late Joseph Zachariah Thekkumthalackal and together they built a beautiful life and family.

She dedicated her life to her family who is her pride and joy. She found joy in prayer and cooking and was known for her delicious meals. She drew comfort and inspiration from the Bible, which remained her favorite book throughout her life. Up until her last moments, she also prided herself in doing charity work, especially for less fortunate college students who needed education.

As an active member of St. Jude Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, she embodied the values of faith and community, participating fully in the life of her church and extending her kindness to all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Bijou Zachariah (Kochumol), Suja Geevarghese (Geevarghese) and Ruby Thomas (Shaji). She was preceded in death by her daughter Rani Francis. She is also survived by her siblings Mariamma Thomas (the late Thomas), Koshy Philip (Molly) and George Philip (Gigi), and her cherished grandchildren, Ansu (Jinto), Christopher, Ashly, Jaison (Ingrid), Teena (Stephen), Anvy (Leo), Rachel (Jerel), and Kevin (Helda), as well as her great grandchildren, Aiden, Andrew, Leah, Selah, Ezra, and Theodosia. Her spirit will live on through the love she shared and the memories she created with them.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rachel’s viewing at St. Jude Syro Malankara Church, 1200 Park Avenue, Bensalem, PA 19020 on Friday, November 21st from 5:30 PM-8:30 PM. A second viewing will take place at the church on Saturday, November 22nd from 9:30 AM -12:00 PM followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery.

May her soul rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of God and the joy of reunion with those who have gone before her. Her spirit will forever remain a guiding light for all who knew her, encouraging us to live with love, faith, and compassion as she did throughout her remarkable life.
