Raymond Angelo Longhitano Sr.

July 31, 1947 — May 31, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Angelo Longhitano Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, who left us peacefully on May 31, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on July 31, 1947, in Bristol, PA, to the late Eugenia (Vergantino) and Raymond Longhitano. Ray dedicated his life to service—first as a proud U.S. Army veteran and then as a stalwart member of the Bucks County Sheriff Department.

Ray's journey in law enforcement spanned nearly three decades, during which he wore many hats, ultimately retiring as a lieutenant. He was not only an exceptional sheriff but also a respected gun instructor, shaping new generations of cadets with his wealth of knowledge and experience. In addition, he shared his passion for law enforcement by teaching courses at Temple University and even influenced the graphic designs that the Sheriff's Office still employs today.

But Ray was more than just his profession. He was a man of many talents, known for his mechanical skills, particularly when it came to rebuilding Ford Mustangs. His love for woodworking showcased his creativity, and he took pride in caring for his home. Many will remember him fondly for his love of Motown and oldies music, often found humming or tapping along to the classic tunes that filled his home.

Ray’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He cherished the memories made on trips to Ocean City, MD, where laughter and love surrounded him. He leaves behind his devoted spouse of 56 years, Rita A. (Klank) Longhitano; his loving daughter, Eugenia Carpenter (Andrew); and his son, Raymond Longhitano Jr. Ray will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Alexandro, Vincenzo and Anissa, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to either the Shriners Children's Philadelphia or the Wounded Warrior Project, please see donation link at the bottom of the page. www.tomlinsonfh.com
