Richard J. Spor

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard J. Spor, who left us on November 7, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on June 7, 1948, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Agnes (Dzikowski) and Frank J. Spor and was a longtime resident of Croydon, PA.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Richard served during the Vietnam War and was honored with the Purple Heart for his bravery. His dedication continued as he spent 25 years as the Chief of Prosthetics at the VA Hospital, where he made a significant impact on the lives of countless veterans. His commitment to community was evident in his active involvement with organizations such as the Auxiliary to Joseph A. Schumacher VFW Post 1597, DAV (Disabled American Veterans), Vietnam Veterans of America, and the Knights of Columbus Pius XII Council #4765.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Elizabeth “Betty” M. (O’Connor). He is survived by his three cherished children: Richard D. Spor, Wendy Bickel (Joseph), and Alicia Bonner (Michael). He leaves behind his beloved sister, Nancy Ann Kiniry (Bill), as well his grandchildren: Joseph (Kaitlyn), Gabrielle (Brad), Ryan, Ashley, Elizabeth, Richard, Madison, James, Rachael, Michael and Nathan Bonner and five great-grandchildren: Joey, Asher, Brody, Miles, and Raven.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Spor.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Service Tuesday November 18, 2025 at precisely 11 AM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 19040.
