Robert G. Hughes passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2020. Bob resided in Langhorne, PA with his son Brett and Amanda, for the last several years of his life. He was 82 years old. Bob graduated from Bensalem High School and immediately joined the Air Force and proudly served overseas for 7 years. After coming back to Bensalem, he joined the Bensalem Township Police Force and rose thru the ranks to become the first Major in the history of the department. He was instrumental in securing state and government grants to improve the functionality of the police force and to increase its membership. Bob was predeceased by his parents Albert and Grace (Miller) Hughes and his daughter Linda Lee. He is survived by his sons Mark (Sharon) and Robert (Dave) and their mother Pauline Hughes, and his son Brett (Amanda) and step-daughter Lisa Roach (Patrick) and their mother Cathy Hughes. He is also survived by his wonderful grandchildren, Alison and Taylor Hughes and Matthew Roach. He is also survived by his brother Al Hughes (Jean) and his sister Grace Hebbe (John) and several nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Tuesday from 6 to 7 PM at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, P.C., 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020, followed by his service at 7 PM. Interment will be private at the Washington Crossing Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Washington Crossing, PA.
