Robert S. Pocreva Jr.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Stephan Pocreva Jr. (“Bobby”), who left this world on February 12, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on December 16, 1960, in Dover, Delaware, to the late Robert Stephen and Joan Grace (née Castelazo) Pocreva, Bobby lived an adventurous childhood as part of a military family, residing in Guam, three locations in England, and eight different states, eventually settling in Pennsylvania.

Bobby was known for his positive outlook on life and his deep love for family, friends, conversation, music, and good food. After graduating from high school, he worked for many years at Jim’s Formal Wear in Trenton, Illinois. He was an active member of the former First Baptist Church (now Grace Baptist Church) and enjoyed weekly meals at the Trenton House. Bobby cherished time spent as his father’s “first mate” on the family sailboat and was always ready to help his mother with gardening and household projects. He cared deeply for his extended family and made a point of staying connected with aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones near and far.

Later, Bobby moved with his parents to Lillian, Alabama, where they lived for many years before relocating to Navarre, Florida, to be closer to his sister Andrea’s family and his brother Joe’s family. He treasured time spent with his nieces and nephews and enjoyed assisting his brother-in-law Bill as a football equipment manager while attending St. Paul’s Methodist Church.

For the past 15 years, Bobby lived near his sister Donna’s family in South Philadelphia, where he became a familiar and friendly presence in the neighborhood, often seen strolling the streets, sharing conversations with anyone wanting to chat, and faithfully attending church. He especially looked forward each week to dining out with his brother-in-law Lindy.

A passionate foodie, Bobby delighted in simple comforts — burgers and fries, fish and chips, and a classic soda. His love of good food was matched only by his devotion to family, faith, and music.

He is survived by his sister, Donna Backues and her husband, Lindy; his sister, Andrea Fry and her husband, Bill; and his brother, Joseph Pocreva and his wife, Andrea, along with many beloved nieces and nephews, including his newest grandnephew. Bobby’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bobby’s memorial service at the PAX Center, 2300 S. 18th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19145, on Saturday, March 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
