It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosemarie Downey, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who left us on November 11, 2025, at the age of 80. Rosemarie was born on November 29, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Peter and Margaret (nee Boyle) Ricci, and spent her many years in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, where she touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.
A proud graduate of Little Flower Catholic High School, Rosemarie dedicated her professional life to being a telecommunications analyst at Cigna. Her resilience and unwavering work ethic made her a valued member of her team, and she took great pride in her contributions to the insurance field.
Rosemarie is lovingly remembered by her family, including her daughter Kim Craven (the late Stephen), her sons Robert Downey Jr., Timothy Downey, Jeff Downey, and Matt Downey (Daneen), her grandchildren, Amanda, Owen, Luke, Grace, Ella, Reese, and Delaney, her great granddaughter, Hazel, and her sisters, Catherine Ricci and Dolores Connelly (Michael). She was a devoted mother who cherished her children and instilled in them the values of compassion and resilience. Rosemarie’s family was her greatest treasure, and she delighted in spending time with them, especially annual trips with her family to North Wildwood. She created beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Downey, her brother, Peter Ricci, and her son in law, Stephen Craven.
Beyond her professional and familial commitments, Rosemarie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed gardening, nurturing her plants and flowers with the same love she gave to her family. Shopping brought her joy, and she often explored local markets and stores, always seeking the perfect finds. An occasional glass of wine with friends or family was her way of celebrating life, laughter, and the moments that matter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 1731 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, Pa 19020 on Thursday, November 20th from 9:30-10:30 AM followed by her Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rosemarie’s name to ALS United Mid-Atlantic, 1015 Virginia Drive, Suite 110, Fort Washington PA 19034, or at https://alsmidatlantic.org/donation/
In this time of sorrow, let us remember Rosemarie for her nurturing spirit, her sharp wit, and her unwavering love for her family. She will be profoundly missed, but her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved.
