It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley (Timberlake) McClellan, who left us peacefully on Saturday October 25, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on September 9, 1945, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Elizabeth (Hazelwood) and Kenneth R. Timberlake.
Shirley dedicated her life to brightening others’ lives, and she treasured family, friendship, and community. She lovingly resided in Bensalem, Pennsylvania for 48 years, where she served over two decades for the Bensalem School District, first as a beloved lunch aide and later as an office attendant. Her warm smile and kind spirit touched the lives of countless students and staff alike. Shirley found joy in the little things—shopping, crafting, and cheering on her favorite team, the Phillies. An avid reader and a lover of Broadway shows, she also enjoyed the arts. But more than anything, Shirley fiercely loved her family and friends and only was ever a text or call away from lending a listening ear, providing a warm embrace, or smiling and laughing about the small trials and tribulations of daily life. She never missed an opportunity to be there for those she loved.
Shirley will be remembered most for her selflessness and thoughtfulness with everyone. She shared small acts of kindness with everyone she encountered - water for her postman and landscaper, appreciation medallions for veterans, and treats for restaurant servers and clerks to name a few. She especially loved bringing happiness to children, and constantly had little gifts or treats for them, occasion or not, just to bring them joy. Her laughter, generosity, and the love she shared with everyone will be sorely missed. She leaves behind a legacy of lighting this world with kindness that will continue to inspire her family, friends, and all she touched.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, George W. McClellan, Sr. She will be deeply missed by her children: George W. McClellan, Jr. (Melissa), Steven Ray McClellan, and Mary Elizabeth Bucher (Matthew), as well as her brothers, Richard Timberlake (Debbie) and Edward Fowler (Gena). Shirley was a proud grandmother who will be deeply missed by Chase, Dylan, Sarah, Julia, and Jude and many other loving family members and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Michael McClellan and her sister, Carolyn Anderson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Monday November 3, 2025, from 10 to 11 AM at St. Ephrem Church, 5400 Hulmeville Rd., Bensalem, PA 19020, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Rite of Committal Resurrection Cemetery.www.tomlinsonfh.com
