It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas M. Dougherty, Jr., who left us peacefully on Thursday October 2, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on March 15, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Mary (Guest) and Thomas M. Dougherty, Sr and was a resient of Mount Laurel, NJ for the past 13 years and was formerly of Delran, NJ.
Tom spent over 20 years in sales at Nelco Hardware, where his exceptional ability to connect with people made him a treasured member of the team. Following his retirement, he continued to enrich the lives of those around him as a driver for 1st Class Limousine, bringing joy to countless passengers.
A man of many passions, Tom enjoyed fishing and boating, but nothing brought him more happiness than dancing and sharing laughs with family and friends. He was an avid tinkerer—always working on projects around the house or fine-tuning his car. He loved spending time with his sisters, reminiscing and sharing old stories that always brought laughter and warmth. Most importantly, Tom cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Susanne M. (Marino) Dougherty. He will also be sadly missed by his children, Michael Dougherty (Denise), Steven Dougherty (Nancy), Linda Bucci (John), Thomas Dougherty (Jamie), Bryan Dougherty (Debbie), and Susan Marcell (Fred). He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to flourish through his twelve grandchildren, Chris, Dan, Stephen, Stephanie, Kaitlyn, Greg, Taylor, Connor, Courtney, Freddie, Matthew, and Nathaniel; and his eight great-grandchildren, Savannah, Maddox, Charlie, Emersyn, Remy, CJ, Raelynn, and Thomas; and his sisters, Joanne Nunez and Mary Claire Gans (The late Bill) and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Tom was also preceded in death by his sister, Jane Pierson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Wednesday October 8, 2025 from 8 AM to 10:30 AM at Holy Name Catholic Church, 260 Conrow Road, Delran, NJ 08075, followed by his Mass at 10:30 AM.
