Walter Nelson Campbell

Walter Nelson Campbell, a cherished member of our community, passed away on September 15, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on May 27, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Walter led a life filled with rich experiences and connections that touched the hearts of many. 

Walter was a proud veteran of the United States Army, devotedly serving his country before returning home to embrace life in Philadelphia. He spent many rewarding years as a doorman in the hospitality industry, where his warm smile and friendly demeanor made a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. 

A man of simple pleasures, Walter had a deep appreciation for the written word and enjoyed spending hours at the library, delving into new stories and ideas, often reading several books at once. He found joy in the cinematic arts, often immersing himself in films that sparked his imagination, as well as visiting the theater and the opera. Walter also relished the experience of dining out, particularly at the beloved restaurants near Rittenhouse Square, where he cherished the company of family and friends over good food and conversation. Walter was also a trained singer with a beautiful voice. 

Walter is survived by his devoted daughter, Lisa Loughery, who will carry his memory in her heart forever. Though he has departed from this world, his spirit will remain alive in the stories shared and the love spread through his family and friends. 

In this time of sorrow, let us remember Walter not only for his struggles but for the joy and kindness he brought into our lives. May his soul find peace, and may we honor his memory by cherishing each moment we share with one another.
