William R. Edwards

William R. Edwards, Jr. of Bensalem passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 19, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was 87 years old. Bill was born in Philadelphia and was a lifelong resident of Bensalem. He was a Police Officer and Detective for the Bensalem Police Department for 26 years and after his retirement from law enforcement, Bill worked for Lower Bucks Hospital as a Security Officer and later volunteered at the hospital for many years helping those in need. He was a proud US Army Veteran. Bill enjoyed photography, model trains and was a member FOP Lodge#053 and Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Lucy (Strozzieri). Bill will be sadly missed by his 3 loving children Maryann Szoka (Gene), Debra Kline (Eric) and William R. Edwards, III (Diane). He is also survived by his siblings Elizabeth Butta, Frank Martin, George and Richard Edwards, Virginia McCue and Gladis Chesky; 9 grandchildren Angeline and Marissa Szoka (Scott), Daniel (Kimberly), Marc (Stephanie) and David Kline, William R. IV, Braden, Austin, and Caeli Rose Edwards; 2 great grandchildren Jacob and Kaitlyn Kline and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents William R., Sr. and Anna (Stokley) Edwards and his siblings Donald Edwards, Michael Martin, James and Kenneth Edwards, Margaret Hrosozske and Dorothy Scarduzio. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday eve from 6 to 8 PM at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, P.C., 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020, and again Saturday from 9 to 10 AM at Neshaminy Baptist Church, 2895 Bristol Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020, followed by his service at 10 AM.
