William George Meinel Sr

May 24, 1947 — Jul 28, 2026

With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of our beloved father, William G. Meinel, Sr., who passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at the age of 79.

Bill was born in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia and raised his family in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. In retirement, he made his home in Delray Beach, Florida, where he continued to live life to the fullest.

He was preceded in death by his father, William G. Meinel; his mother, Martha (Conway) Meinel; and his wife, Theresa (O'Donnell) Meinel.

He is survived by his loving children, Bill Meinel, Jr. and Kelly Meinel, as well as many lifelong friends and family members. He taught us how to love, live well, be honest, and persevere.

Bill was a man of incredible determination. At 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he learned electronics while honorably serving his country. Following his military service, he built upon that experience by learning computer programming, leading to a successful career with Sperry Univac, Unisys, and Comcast.

Those qualities shaped the way Bill approached life. Following the loss of his wife, Theresa, in 1997, he moved forward with remarkable resilience and remained a constant source of love, support, and encouragement to his children.

Family was always at the center of Bill's life. He proudly supported Kelly's love of dance and made sure she had every opportunity to pursue it. He also believed strongly in the value of sports and encouraged his children to be active and involved. A football player himself, Bill coached and volunteered whenever he could, serving as an assistant coach in soccer, baseball, and football. He spent countless hours driving to practices, games, swim lessons, and other activities. He and his son shared many unforgettable years through travel ice hockey, spending long hours in the car, weekends in hotels, and countless days at rinks across the region. More than the games themselves, it was the time spent together that created memories to last a lifetime.

Beyond his career and family, Bill found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time with friends, could always find the party, and enjoyed investing. Whether catching up with family or spending time with friends, one of his favorite invitations was, "Let's go have a sandwich and a beer." Those moments of conversation and companionship were among the things he enjoyed most.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bill’s viewing at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, Pa 19020 on Friday, August 7th from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, followed by his service at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, https://t2t.org/.

Bill created lasting memories that will be treasured forever. He will be remembered for his resilience, loyalty, sense of humor, and unwavering determination, as well as the love he shared with family and friends. May he rest in peace.
