Our Story
Our History
The building that now houses Tomlinson Funeral Home was originally constructed in the 1920s as the First Bank of Cornwells Heights. Like many financial institutions of the era, the bank was forced to close during the Great Depression of 1929. By 1933, the building found a new purpose, becoming a funeral home under the direction of Mr. Harold Heffner.
In 1945, the property was purchased by J. Maurice and Florence Tomlinson, who officially opened it the following year as the J. Maurice Tomlinson Funeral Home. Their dedication to compassionate, personalized care laid the foundation for the values we uphold to this day.
Their son, Robert "Tommy" Tomlinson, took over the family business in 1975. Together with his wife, Nancy C. Tomlinson, Tommy continued to serve the community with integrity and commitment for over five decades.
In 2024, after nearly 20 years of service to the funeral home, Ryan Brady—who began working with the Tomlinsons at the age of 15—was entrusted by Tommy to carry on the legacy. Under Ryan’s leadership, Tomlinson Funeral Home remains proudly family-owned and operated, continuing its long tradition of independent service and personalized care.
